The North East Design Review and Enabling Service
The North East Design Review
David Burney, the Commissioner for Design and Construction from New York City launched the service in May 2009. The NE Design Review Service carried out its first review meeting in June 2009.
There have been 9 review meetings to date (April 2010), at which 38 schemes have been reviewed.
The Panel have commented on over £0.8 billion worth of development proposals, and encouraged over 40 observers to attend design review to witness the process and share learning.
The Panel:
- Consists of 23 acknowledged professionals
- Meet on the first Wednesday of every month (apart from August and January)
- Host panel meetings in each of the 4 sub regions
- Review 4 proposals at each meeting
- Issue reports within 5 working days of the review meeting
- Respect the confidentiality and commercial sensititvity of pre-application schemes
